Center Director Steve Ross, together with retired labor and employment relations professorr Doug Allen and two other sports law professors, recently drafted and proposed federal legislation to regulate licensing of name, image and likeness (NIL) rights for college athletes.
Key provisions contrast with NCAA proposals by allowing transparent group licensing for an entire team and allow players’ licensing agencies to cooperate with universities to allow official sponsors to use both university logos and players’ NIL.
